What I got out of class that day was the reality of the Bayan community, it's all about working together and pushing each other to succeed, meaning constructive cristism and acting as adults instead of talking behind ones back and automatically labeling one as the black sheep. I wish well for this student and I know that after that class period he will be more determined then ever to prove his fellow Bayan wrong and get on track. I know, he knows he's capable of doing it but the rest is on him. Best of Luck my Brotha.

ReplyDeleteThe picture of the extending hand is just as powerful as your words. How amazing to be a part of this experience!

Hi Aaron!
ReplyDeleteYour post sounds like it comes from a very warm and understanding place. It appears that you really do want what is best for your classmate. I think that is what is so wonderful about being a part of a learning community. Unlike many other "typical" college courses, there is a sense of community in the class and you are all there to help each other up, instead of being catty and talking behind each other's backs.
It's a good thing that you are all rotating groups. That way, you will get to know one another and be invested in one another's future. :)
I especially enjoyed how you tied in the concepts that you are learning in class. Well done!
Best,
Laura
